Under ideal conditions – lifting directly in front of the machine on firm, level ground – a 1.5-ton excavator can typically lift between 1,500 kg and 2,000 kg (about 3,300 to 4,400 lbs).
That's the number you'll see on the spec sheet. But in the real world, you'll almost never hit that maximum. Here's why.
This is the biggest factor. The further the load is from the center of the machine, the less the excavator can safely lift. It's simple leverage – the arm acts like a lever, and the load gets heavier the further it extends.
